Traveling Around London

Taxi – ‘black cab’
London’s famous ‘black taxis’ (still called ‘black’, even though many of them are multi-coloured now) can be hired by hailing them on the street or book on Number: 020 7272 0272 with a concierge. A meter inside the vehicle registers the fare. All black taxis have a licence numbers displayed on the car. You are advised not to use unlicensed taxis.

Shopping (Main Shopping Districts)

The West End

Oxford Street is London’s best-known shopping street, chock-a-block with fashion and shoe shops as well as large department stores including Selfridges, Debenhams and John Lewis. The largest branch of the Marks & Spencer chain is situated near Marble Arch.
Regent Street is noted for its high-quality British clothing shops including Aquascutum, Austin Reed and Burberry. Halfway down is Liberty, famous for its fine fabrics and silk scarves and Hamleys, one of the most famous toy shops in the world.

Bond Street is famous for its art galleries, antiques and jewellery shops, as well as exclusive designer clothes shops and luxury goods.

On Piccadilly you will find Fortnum and Mason, one of the world’s great department stores renowned for its lavish Food Hall.

Jermyn Street runs parallel to Piccadilly and is home to many well-known shirt makers, fine tailors and jewellery shops.
